Maintain a Balance Food is more than just nourishment. What or when are situations when we choose to eat? Which ones usually cause us to indulge? Keep a healthy mind and body by balancing foods and beverages consumed with physical activity to avoid weight gain and health problems.

The mental benefits of exercise are: Improved sleep More energy Increased ability to concentrate
The health benefits of exercise are: Loss of weight Lower blood pressure Reduced risk of heart disease The bottom line is that less exercise equals less sleep, less energy, more stress, and more illness. When we feel out of balance, we have a greater chance for eating in an unhealthy manner.
Choose to Move Make healthy choices that fit your lifestyle so you can do the things you want to do. Be realistic: Make small changes over time in what you eat and the level of activity you do. After all, small steps work better than giant leaps. Be adventurous: Expand your tastes to enjoy a variety of foods. Be Flexible: Go ahead and balance what you eat and the physical activity you do over several days. No need to worry about just one meal or one day. Be Sensible: Enjoy all foods, just don’t overdo it. Be active: Walk the dog, don’t just watch the dog walk.
Where and When Can I Learn More About Healthy Eating? Wayne County Public Library Main Branch: FUN WITH HEALTHY FOODS Tuesday, February 9th at 6:30pm and Tuesday, February 23rd at 1:30pm “The Emotional Side of Food” How do your emotions affect your food choices and what can you do about it? Learn how to use activity to keep your emotions in check, and stay healthy and in charge. There will be cooking, tasting, and recipe sharing. It’s stir fry month!
MOMMY & ME Monday, February 1st at 6:30pm and Tuesday, February 2nd at 10:15am Preschoolers and their caregivers can stir up fun in the kitchen with our own “Kitchen Olympics”. We’ll talk about exercise and make some cool snacks.
