Wooster Library Celebrates Black History Month
Local resident, Lydia Thompson, will help the library celebrate Black History month with the program “Sharing the Past to Promote Growth of the Future.” The audience will be asked to explore what America’s Black History means to each of them. Participants will be challenged to consider how the African-American experience has impacted the present and will continue to shape the growth of America in the future.
Mrs. Thompson, well-known for her portrayal of famous historical women, will portray Mary McLeod Bethune, a child of freed slaves who became a famous educator, champion of increased opportunities for black women, and the first African-American woman to head a federal office. Bethune’s eight-point legacy will be explored.
All are welcome to attend this free event which will be held on February 15th at 6:30 in the library’s conference room. No registration is required.
