Calling all young actors ages 12 to 18, Wayne County Performing Arts Council is holding auditions for its youth production, The Five Pound Sack, on Thursday, May 13, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. & Saturday, May 15, 12:30 – 2:30 p.m. at the Best Western located at 243 E. Liberty Street in Wooster.

Actors will be asked to do a cold reading from the script that will be provided at the auditions. Roles are being cast for two male and three female characters ages 12 to 18. The play is being directed by Anna Barrios.

The Five Pound Sack, written by James Rayfield and produced by special arrangement with Baker’s Plays, will be performed on July 31 at WayneCenter for the Arts and on August 7 at the Ohio Community Theater Association’s Junior Competition in Columbus, Ohio.

This delightful comedy tells the tale of Cindy whose project for Family Living class is to treat a sack of flour as if it was her child. The "father" is Chuck "Metal-Is-My-Life" Shickman, who would rather die than take a sack of flour in a diaper to his Advanced Remedial English class. Bribes, threats, brownies, Twinkies, and a twisted kidnapping plot are employed in this story where everyone learns something about parenting and each other.

WaCPAC is a non-profit performing arts organization that has been providing performing arts opportunities in WayneCounty for nearly 30 years. For more information about the audition, call 330-466-6360.
