11/20/2012
12/25/2012

WHO: Haven of Rest Ministries

WHAT: Christmas meals for homeless and needy men, women and children in our community. People who may be spending Christmas alone are also encouraged to join us. A traditional Christmas meal of turkey, homemade mashed potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, cranberry sauce, corn pudding, and pie. Each guest will also receive a bag of toiletry items.

WHERE: Haven of Rest Ministries, 175 East Market St., downtown Akron

WHEN: Christmas, 12:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Terry Pluto, Sports writer and Faith Column writer for the Cleveland Plain Dealer, will be giving an inspiring message for the 6:30 p.m. meal.

WHY: Every day, Haven of Rest provides hundreds of hot, nutritious meals to homeless and poor men, women and children. A meal is often the first contact we have with a person in need of help. It’s our opportunity to show them that they can find hope and achieve a better life. Christmas is a day when we serve more of these individuals than any other day of the year. It is also a chance for Haven of Rest to let communities know about the problems facing homeless and needy men, women and children each day.

WQKT offers the Community Calendar for Non-profit & CharitableGroups & Events. Business & Personal Events will not be posted.
