QUAKERS TO DISCUSS STEWARDSHIP AND UNITY OF CREATION
Stewardship of the earth and the unity of creation — the interconnectedness of creation, and our obligations toward maintaining that creation — will be the focus of the Wooster Friends Meeting (Quakers) discussion Sunday, February 7, 12:15 p.m.
The discussion will be held in the regular meeting place, the lower level of the Westminster Presbyterian Church House, 353 East Pine Street, on the College of Wooster campus, Wooster, Ohio, following the regularly held silent worship, which begins at 10:45 a.m.
Members of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) have been concerned about stewardship of the earth for hundreds of years. In 1772, John Woolman, an early abolitionist and Quaker preacher, cautioned of using the earth’s resources in ways that would impoverish the earth for future generations.
The discussion series continues on the first Sunday of each month, at 12:15 p.m. Future discussions will focus on other practices and testimonies of Quakers, including equality, peace, sacramental living, the relationship to Jesus, and the testimonies for simplicity and integrity.
The discussion is open to the public, and people unfamiliar with Quakers are invited to attend and participate.
