OHIO MENNONITE RELIEF SALE SET FOR AUGUST 6 AND 7

Two Events Under One Tent, Relief Sale and Summerfest 2010 – August 5-8

Preparations are underway for the 45th annual Ohio Mennonite Relief Sale and Auction held annually at Central Christian School in Kidron, Ohio. This year the Relief Sale is partnering with Wingfield Ministries. Wingfield Ministries will be hosting Summerfest 2010 on Thursday evening, Saturday evening, and Sunday evening, while the Relief Sale will be held Friday evening and Saturday.

Summerfest 2010 will start Thursday, August 5 at 6:30 with a Youth Extreme Night. Musical guest for the evening is the contemporary band, Polen. Friday afternoon the Relief Sale begins. Food and vendor booths will be open at 4:00 pm. The evening program will begin at 6:30 pm with music by the southern gospel quartet Freedom Voice. Everyone will be able to preview Saturday’s sale items. Again, there will be a silent auction of theme baskets and other donated handmade items. There will also be a live auction during the program intermission to get people ready for the big sale day on Saturday.

On Saturday morning, breakfast starts at 7:00 am. Breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, sausage gravy and biscuits, and more. The Run for Relief 5K run will be held at 8:00 am. At 9:00 am the Art and Collectible Auction starts in the large tent and the Wood Auction starts in the gymnasium. The Quilt Auction will begin at 10:00 am. Gerber’s Chicken BBQ, Laotian Egg Rolls, Homemade Ice Cream, and much more will be available for lunch. The 2nd annual cornhole tournament will be Saturday morning. In the afternoon, Wingfield Ministries will be hosting a volleyball tournament and Team Xtreme will perform at 4:00 pm. On Saturday and Sunday evenings at 6:30 pm Wingfield Ministries will continue with the Summer Festival.

On Saturday there will be a concert by special guest Ken Medema and Festival Praise Band. On Sunday evening musical guests are Karla Karst and John Schmid. Steve Wingfield will be speaking both evenings. Penny Power is being designated for water projects around the world. This project provides clean drinking water and new wells for communities all over the world. Pocket change is being collected at area Mennonite Churches until the Relief Sale. Collection sites and a coin counter will be available at the Relief Sale. Children’s activities are available throughout Friday and Saturday. There will be festival games, a children’s train, and an auction for children 13 and under where they can bid on many different toys. There will be a children’s program at noon, Saturday, in the children’s tent.

Auction items can be previewed online about one month prior to the sale at www.OhioMCCReliefSale.org. Brochures, registration information, and forms for the Run for Relief and the Cornhole Tournament are also available online. Admission and parking are free.
