Local Law Enforcement Agencies Launch Drunk Driving Crackdown
Wayne County Safe Communities is announcing that they will be joining with thousands of other law enforcement and highway safety agencies across the nation to take part in the “Drunk Driving. Over the Limit. Under Arrest” crackdown on impaired driving. This high-visibility enforcement campaign runs from August 20 through Labor Day weekend.
Safe Communities will be getting the message out about the dangers of drinking and driving by hosting “Unhappy Hour.” This event will take place on August 20, 2010 at 7:30 am at the Hawkins Market Parking Lot. We will be partnering with local law enforcement and community members and launching balloons to represent the 105 crashes in Wayne County in 2009. We will launch 2 black balloons for the fatalities that occurred, 67 red balloons to represent the injured, and 36 blue balloons to represent the families that could have lost someone to drinking and driving. Please come out and join us in getting the message out about the dangers of drinking driving.
Wayne County Safe Communities is coordinated by Your Human Resource with funding through the Ohio Department of Public Safety/Ohio Traffic Safety Office. Community members of all ages are always welcome to participate. For more information, contact Suzanne Snyder or Kat Williard at (330) 264-9597.
