The Foodbank will release startling findings from this study during the 3-city tour. Hunger in America 2010 provides an important basis for developing responses to food insecurity and hunger at both the national and local level. This research was done in conjunction with Feeding America and its network of more than 200 food banks across the country.
The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is a non-profit organization with a mission to Feed People and Fight Hunger by providing food and other essential products to more than 430 community organizations that operate food pantries, hot meal sites and other hunger relief programs in Carroll, Holmes, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties. In 2009, the Foodbank distributed over 18.5 million pounds of food, providing 13.5 million meals locally for people in need.
