First Night Akron Celebration
Downtown Akron Warms Up for First Night Akron 2010
New Year's Eve, Thursday, December 31, 2009
It may be cold outside, but it's hot in here! Downtown Akron is warming up for the 14th annual First Night Akron Celebration this Thursday, December 31, 5 p.m.-midnight!
You've never seen First Night like this before! The festivities kick off with "A Night of Firsts!" Every artist will premiere something new! Artist premieres range from new songs, performances and dances to new interactive projects and works of art! Check the First Night Artist list to see what each artist will premiere.
Tired of spending half the night traveling from venue to venue? This year the footprint is more compact and easier to navigate, but still features more than 90 artists and projects to enjoy! First Night artists are using the space in creative and imaginative ways - so guests don't have to miss any performances because of travel time. METRO buses run the First Night loop all night - FREE! Stay warm and ride a METRO Bus between your favorite venues.
You'll also find that the 8:30 p.m. Akron Children's Hospital Kids Countdown Show, 9 p.m. Kids Fireworks, 11:30 p.m. Midnight Countdown Show and First Night Fireworks, sponsored by FirstMerit Foundation, at midnight have moved to Lock 3! Come down to Lock 3 and countdown to 2010 with us.
First Night Akron admission buttons are only $10 for adults and children under 10 are FREE! Buttons are available at Acme Fresh Markets and participating FirstMerit Bank branches. Buttons are available on December 31 at The Library Shop on Main and Stage Left Boutique at the Akron Civic Theatre.
Whether it's your first time at First Night or your 14th, you're sure to have a unique experience! Find out more online at www.firstnightakron.org! Visit First Night's website for a full schedule of First Night events, indoor venues, artist premiers, free parking and more!
