Civil War Roundtable Program
Civil War Roundtable Program - Jan. 15, 2013, in collaboration with the
Wayne County Libraries, commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War!
You will want to be sure to attend this program which is scheduled to be in the Conference Room of the Wooster Library beginning at 6:30 p.m. There is no charge for the program. Wooster’s own Margo Broehl will be performing in “Triumph and Sorrow—the story of a station on the Underground Railroad in Ohio”.
Abraham Morris and his wife Nancy operated a station on the Underground
Railroad in southern Ohio. Defying the strictures of the Fugitive Slave
Laws and the marauding of pro-slavery vigilantes, the family helped
hundreds of slaves on the path to freedom. Their granddaughter Mattie
Moore Townsend, as portrayed by descendant Margo Broehl, recounts tales
of courage, bravery, and the terrible price paid for freedom by those
who escaped, and those who rescued.
