Christmas Cookie Tour of Inns Returns to Amish Country
The Second Annual Christmas Cookie Tour of Inns, hosted by the Amish Country Lodging Council, will take place on Sunday, Dec. 6, 1-7 p.m. The event celebrates the advent of the Christmas season with a progressive cookie tasting at ten festively decorated inns of Amish Country.
Well known northeastern Ohio chef, cookbook author, and Mustard Seed’s director of cooking schools, Bev Shaffer, is this year’s featured chef. Shaffer will offer baking tips and participate in an exclusive book signing of her cookbook, “Cookies to Die For!” at the Carlisle Inn in Walnut Creek. One of the cookies from her book will be available to sample during the tour.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children. Each patron will receive entrance to participating properties and a souvenir guide with the recipes of specialty cookies available to sample at each inn. Proceeds from the Christmas Cookie Tour of Inns will benefit Hospice of Holmes County.
Properties showcased this year are Carlisle Inn in Walnut Creek, Lamplight Inn, the Barn Inn, Inn at Honey Run, Guggisberg Swiss Inn, Hilltop Manor, Berlin Hotel & Suites, Inn at Amish Door, Comfort Suites Berlin, and Zinck’s Inn. Patrons will be able to purchase Shaffer’s “Cookies to Die For!” and a selection of Christmas cookies or candies at many of the inns. At the end of the festivities will be a drawing for a $150 gift certificate that can be used for lodging at one of the participating inns.
