AUDITIONS FOR “TWAIN’S TALES” RESCHEDULED FOR THIS SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 13TH
— ORIGINAL DATE CANCELLED DUE TO SNOW STORM —
The Wayne Center for the Arts Has rescheduled open auditions for its Storytime Family Theatre production of Twain’s Tales for Saturday, February 13, from 10:00AM-12:00AM. The auditions were rescheduled due to the closing of the Wayne Center because of the snow storm on February 6th. No preparation is necessary, but please plan on staying the entire time. Rehearsals will be on Saturdays from 10:00-12:30, February 20-March 20, with Dress Rehearsals on March 23 and 25. Performances are at 7:00PM on Friday, March 26, and 2:00 PM on Saturday March 27.
Twain’s Tales is a collection of five short stories by the master American storyteller-Samuel Clemens, also known as Mark Twain. The stories are “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County,” “Science v. Luck,” “The Joke That Made Ed’s Fortune,” “The Belated Russian Passport” and “Is He Living or Is He Dead?” – as well as the fence-painting chapter from The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. The play takes place on the front porch of a general store in Hannibal, Missouri in the late 1800s. The locals – the storekeeper and his wife, a printer, a reporter and a riverboat pilot – spend the morning entertaining each other by seeing who can spin the tallest tale. This play is full of wit, humor, great stories, and interesting characters. I don’t know who will be more entertained – you as actors, or the audience.
This play has a large, flexible cast. Everyone ages 10 to adult who auditions will be assigned a role. Children under the age of 10 may be accepted based on audition and at the discretion of the directors. There is a production fee ( $50 for Wayne Center Members, $70 for Non-members) to help with the costs of scripts, costumes, props, and sets. Full and partial financial aid may be available for those who qualify.
