Ashland University Minority Student Services Director to Speak at Spring Convocation
Ashland University Director of Minority Student Services/Judicial Affairs Charles Harkness will speak at the University’s Spring Convocation on March 30. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 11 a.m. in the Jack and Deb Miller Chapel, located at the intersection of King Road and College Avenue.
The Ashland University Choir, under the direction of Dr. Rowland Blackley, director of choral activities and associate professor of music, will present two anthems “How Can I Keep from Singing?” and “Ubi caritas.”
Dr. Dan Lawson, dean of religious life, will extend the welcome and offer the invocation and benediction. Saundra Zellner, a senior social work major from Twinsburg, will introduce Harkness. Phillip Wages, a junior toxicology major from Blanchester, Ohio, will present the scripture, while Jerika Gilcreast, a sophomore social work major from Barberton, will present the prayer. Dr. Timothy Guenther, university organist, will provide the opening and closing voluntaries.
Ashland University classes will be canceled and offices closed during the campus-wide event.
