Akron Wayne College’s Spring Featured Author Series Program
Dr. Jeff Gundy, professor of English at Bluffton University and widely published poet, will speak at The University of Akron Wayne College’s Spring Featured Author Series Program at 7 p.m., Tuesday, March 9.
Gundy’s program for the evening is titled “Out of This World? Writing Poems in Peculiar Times.” Gundy is the author of several volumes of poetry, including Spoken Among the Trees (University of Akron Press, November 2007, 107pp., $14.95), Deerflies (WordTech Editions, Cincinnati, Ohio, September 2004, 136 pp., $17), Rhapsody With Dark Matter (Bottom Dog Press, Huron, Ohio, November 2000, 88 pp., $16.55) and Flatlands (Cleveland State University Press, Cleveland, Ohio, April 1995, 77 pp. $10). He is also author of Walker in the Fog: On Mennonite Writing (Cascadia Publishing House, April 2005, 300 pp., $22.95). He has published several chapbooks and has had poems appear in many of the most respected journals in the country, including Antioch Review, Beloit Poetry Journal, Crazyhorse, Kansas Quarterly, Indiana Review and Shenandoah. At Bluffton, Gundy teaches courses in literature and creative writing.
The 45-minute presentation will be held in the Wayne College auditorium in the main classroom building Light refreshments will be available before the presentation, and the author will be signing and selling books afterward. This event is free and open to the public.
The Featured Author Series is part of the Wayne College Writing Project, which also includes the Student and Regional Writing Awards, the Writer of the Year Award and the Writers Workshop.
