State Tourney

The end of the high school basketball season is in sight as the girls state tournament is this weekend. It is a lot of hoops over a short time frame in Columbus over the next two weekends but, for the most part, it is a good time. As in many previous years, we have the pleasure of broadcasting some local teams at the State Tournament. Smithville and Hiland are part of the Girls Final Four this year. It really does add to our excitement being able to cover some "locals". Smithville's second trip this decade and Hiland's 11th overall and 3rd in a row make the week even more enjoyable. Hiland's dominance thru the years is probably more appreciated outside the area, where people not as close to the program have to think that something is in the water at the Reese Center. Its easy to get lulled into expectations when the program is so well known to you. Smithville heads to the Final Four for the second time this school year after the volleyball accomplished the feat this fall...quite an achievement. Two Final Four's in one school year doesn't happen all that often. Im sure they appreciate the accomplishment now but I bet it will mean even more later in life. Good Luck to both.
