Canton radio sports announcer dies

Sympathies go out to WHBC Radio in Canton with the passing of Jim Johnson. Jim was the sports voice at WHBC Radio. Growing up in Stark County, he was the person people that I and everybody turned into to hear high school football and basketball. His distinctive voice made it obvious to the listeners who was on the air when they tuned in. He had a low key style and was as professional as the come. Simply an outstanding broadcaster and better yet, a good guy. After listening to him for years growing up it was nice to to get to know him later in life and realize that he was just as good a person as he was a broadcaster. Jim understood that the game was the attraction and not the announcer. He will be missed.
